Description

School and district leaders - whether administrators or practitioners - have an important role in ensuring that all learners can access and use the digital curriculum. In this deep dive session, we’ll start with understanding the term "accessible" in the context of learner variability and an inclusive technology ecosystem. Features that make digital material accessible will be explored and best practices will be applied for vetting digital materials for accessibility and effectively communicating with vendors during the procurement process (be prepared by having your district’s procurement policy handy). This session will also model strategies that teachers can use to increase the accessibility of the digital materials they create on a daily basis.

Practical Skills

  • Develop a shared understanding of how accessibility applies to your team’s goal of creating an inclusive technology ecosystem.
  • Apply best practices for selecting accessible digital materials at the district, building, and classroom levels.
  • Identify resources that your team can use to create a roadmap for continuous improvement in ensuring digital accessibility for all learners.
