Renee Mauzy

Renee Mauzy has served as general counsel for the Department of Information Resources since 2000. In that position she provides legal advice and counsel to staff, the DIR Board and the TexasOnline Authority. Renee was an assistant attorney general in the Administrative Law Division of the Office of the Attorney General in 1997 and 1998. In that position she provided general legal advice to 13 state agencies. She began her career in state government in 1993 at the Texas Department of Commerce where she became general counsel in 1996.

Renee began her legal career with Valero Energy Corporation in San Antonio in 1980 as a regulatory attorney. She joined Southern Union Gas Company in 1983 where she held various legal and operations positions until 1993.

Both her undergraduate and law school degrees are from the University of Texas at Austin.
