K-12 Programs
In 2001, Knowbility partnered with the Texas Education Agency, Austin Independent School District, and Austin Community College to confront the problem of Assistive Technology (AT) assessment and implementation in K-12 schools. Students with disabilities are the the one demographic group most at risk for leaving school before graduation. AT has proven to be highly effective in improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities - allowing them to stay in school and on grade level - but teachers are not learning how to assess individuals students needs or implement appropriate solutions. ATSTAR, for Assistive Technology Strategies, Tools, Accommodations and Resources, is an online series of teacher-training modules to address the need to train teachers in this important strategy for supporting the educational success of students with disabilities.
