Case Study

Knowbility worked with the University of Texas at Austin's Accessibility Institute to develop and deliver training materials in support of the implementation of UT's internal accessibility standards. A subsequent study by the University of Washington found that UT Austin had the most accessible web site of all universities in its calss in the nation.

Knowbility worked within a software development company to meet the needs of a team that included a blind mainframe programmer. As the team functions increasingly moved online, the programmer was left out of team activities that were conducted on the inaccessible company intranet. Knowbility delivered accessibility awareness training and followed up with classes that taught accessibility specific to that team's tools. The programmer resumed his role as a productive and valued member of the team.

Knowbility created a two-day series of accessibility classes delivered in six parallel tracks and covering accessibility basics to hands-on design courses using specific development tools. Evaluation data indicated that the information was timely and very useful for more than 90% of attendees. Two developers from a web design firm in Manchester England came because in their job as search engine optimization specialists for their clients, they had found that accessible design techniques were the single most effective tools for success.
