Welcome friends of Universal Design!
Web Professionals–
Are you new to the world of accessible IT? Could you teach us a thing or two about accessibility?
Yes?
Then – YOU – are challenged to field a team of talented web professionals to enter the eleventh annual Accessibility Internet Rally for Austin (AIR-Austin). The checkered flags will fly as AIR competitors take off to show our community how to burn rubber on the Internet and provide accessible websites to local non-profit groups!
Learn design techniques that make your web site available to millions more users! There are many elements of design, which make a site more accessible to people with disabilities, while at the same time letting you maintain all of its functionality and visual elegance. The same techniques that permit access by people with disabilities, who may use assistive technology, ALSO permit access to your site by the folks who browse the web with their palm devices and mobile phones! You can help prove this by participating in AIR-Austin.
Benefits:
Your $100 team fee offers you the opportunity to network with your web design peers, and...
- You will be trained about the tools, techniques and standards that make online information available to everyone and meet emerging government mandates.
- Winners of the AIR-Austin event receive public recognition and a trophy at a high profile awards ceremony
- Your skills will be used to help the Austin community
- Free FOOD, caffeine and chocolate!
- And, last but not least, the inevitable, the ever-unstoppable, event T-shirt, commemorating your participation.
To be matched with a NPO you must meet these commitments.
