- Community Technology Partnership Award from Capitol Area Training Foundation Feb. 2001
- Executive Director, Sharron Rush named to Top 25 - In April of 2001, the San Francisco Women of the Web (SF WoW) recognized Knowbility Executive Director Sharron Rush as one of their Top 25 Women of the Web for her work to raise awareness of the need and the societal benefits of greater Internet accessibility.
2000
- Peter F. Drucker Foundation Recognition for Nonprofit Innovation - Since 1990, when Peter Drucker, "the father of modern management," established the Drucker Foundation, they have supported excellence in nonprofit management. Each year, the Drucker foundation recognizes nonprofit programs that address society's problems in innovative and effective ways. Knowbility was greatly honored when our Accessibility Internet Rally was one of three programs selected for recognition by the Drucker Foundation in October of 2000.
- White House recognition - On September 21, 2000, the White House issued a press release to highlight programs across the country that are helping to bridge the digital divide for people with disabilities. The Rocky Mountain AIR program was mentioned by President Clinton as a new and noteworthy initiative.
- Texas Interactive Media Award (TIM) - Knowbility was very pleased to receive Notable Achievement in the public service category of the TIM Awards for the AIR-Austin project. On March 10th, we kicked off the SXSW Interactive Media festival by accepting this award in the good company of Human Code, Digital Voodoo and other innovative media folk.
- National Labor Summit - In April of 2000, Knowbility Board Chair Steve Guengerich and intern Josh Blakeley are featured guests of a panel discussion in Washington DC. AIR activities are highlighted as a "best practice" in the employment of people with disabilities.
- Community Collaboration Award - The second annual awards recognize outstanding efforts of collaboration throughout Central Texas are cosponsored by citysearch.com, the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way/Capital Area. The awards honor individuals, businesses, organizations, schools and government entities who have strengthened the community at large physically, psychologically, spiritually, socially, economically and/or intellectually.
1999
- AIR-Austin Day was proclaimed on March 8, 1999. Austin¹s Mayor Kirk Watson and Congressman Lloyd Doggett addressed a crowd of over 200 people who gathered to celebrate the event and honor the organizers and sponsors.
1998
- Achievement in Media Award - October 1998 from the Austin Mayor¹s Committee on People with Disabilities. The Mayor¹s Committee has been recognizing community contributions to the employment of people with disabilities for almost twenty years.
